Services for jobseekers
The employment counselors of the Municipality of Suomussalmi provide individualized support and guidance to job seekers at every stage of the job search process. Job seekers living in other areas who are planning to move to Suomussalmi are also welcome to contact us.
Together, we identify services that align with the client’s goals and life situation, and, if necessary, refer them to social, health, and rehabilitation services that promote employment and work capacity. We also assist and guide clients, as needed, toward short- and long-term training and coaching programs that promote employment or enhance professional skills.
The goal of employment services is to help job seekers enter the labor market quickly and to help employers find suitable employees.

Online Services
The official and primary channel for interacting with the employment authority, for both individual and business customers, is the Job Market Finland online service.
Through the E-services, you can, for example, register as a job seeker, agree on your employment plan, and report its progress or changes in your job search.
In the “Business Services” section, entrepreneurs can, for example, post job openings, browse applicants suitable for open positions, and interact with the employment authority. You log in to the service via electronic authentication.
Visiting the Employment Service Center
You can also visit the employment service center in person at the Suomussalmi Town Hall. Appointments with employment counselor are scheduled at the service center.
You can book an appointment with an employment counselor through the E-services, using the contact form available in the lobby, or by email. You can also register as a job seeker using a paper form. Paper forms can be dropped off in the mailbox in the lobby or in the mail slot on the exterior door of the B staircase at the town hall.
Please never send documents or messages containing personal data or other personal information via email. It is possible to send confidential mail, i.e., secure mail, to the Municipality of Suomussalmi.
