Self-service hours

Self-service hours

Welcome to self-service hours!

You can visit the self-service hours outside of the actual, staffed opening hours. During your free time and weekends, you can borrow material with a loan machine, pick up reservations, read magazines, use computers or, for example, spend time. The staff is not there, so making, printing, or paying fees for a new Library Card is not possible during self-service hours.

To use the self-service, you need a Kainet library card and PIN number. The identification number is the same that is used in the online library and the loan machine. You can get a badge from the staff. The guardian applies for the right to use the self-service hours for customers under the age of 15 and is responsible for the use of the library.

Every visitor during self-service hours must log in. At the start of the self-service period, the customer must log in using the login device located at the front door. The barcode side of the library card is displayed on the infrared light on the bottom of the device. After this, the pin code is entered.

Children can come accompanied by their parents without registering. Please note that the logged-in customer is responsible for his own behavior as well as the behavior of other customers who came with him and is obliged to compensate for any damages. Self-service users undertake to follow the rules of use of the Suomussalmi municipal library and to maintain the cleanliness and order of the library.

Lend out material at the loan machine located at the entrance to the Art Gallery Kieppi. You can pick up the reservations yourself next to the service counter. Remember to also borrow the reservations you picked up. The barcode reader is at the top, so turn your library card barcode side up, as well as the books to borrow. You can return material to the appointed box near the service desk or the hatch outside.

At the end of self-service hours, you must leave the library premises without delay. Use of the self-service library can be prevented, for example, due to disruptive behavior. The library has recording camera surveillance, the use of which is subject to the Personal Data Act (523/1999).

In case of problems, contact the staff. Technical problems can only be solved when the staff is there. The municipality's emergency number 044-0344305 helps with problems related to the property. In emergencies, call the general emergency number 112.
